| J.W.Lees Vintage Harvest Ale is only brewed once a year for release on
December 1 of each year. It is a Limited Edition Vintage to celebrate
the first brew from each year's harvest of barley and hops. Only the
first delivery of the year's classic barley malt 'Maris Otter' and the
classic hop variety 'Goldings' from East Kent is therefore used.
Dorothy Goodbody
Thumbing through her grandfather's books one day Dorothy came upon a
wonderful stout recipe. She gave it to the head brewer of the Wye
Valley Brewery who eagerly purchased the ingredients: roasted and
flaked barley, pale malts and of course Irish Northdown Hops. Much to
Dorothy's delight, he called it 'Dorothy Goodbody's Wholesome Stout' or
should it have been 'Perfection'? At the 4th CAMRA National Winter Ales Festival this year Dorothy Goodbody's Wholesome Stout came first in its class and claimed the bronze medal in the overall judging. Mike Benner, Head of Campaigns and Communications for CAMRA said, "It's great to see real cask conditioned stout perform so well against the more predictable bitters and old ales. Well done Wye Valley."
