Konzelmann Estate Winery ... Niagara’s
Exclusive Lakefront Winery, was established in Canada in 1984. Herbert
Konzelmann, the great-grandson of German winemaker, Friedrich Konzelmann,
chose the site on the shores of Lake Ontario because of the micro-climate,
where the wonderful balance of sun, soil, airflow and moisture conditions
are ideal for the production of premium quality wines. The protection provided by the nearby Niagara Escarpment, combined with the moderating influence of the lake, provides a longer growing period for the ‘noble’ Vitis Vinifera vines of Pinot Noir, Riesling, and Chardonnay grapes. | This unique icewine flavours from the honeyed peach and apricot to more tropical fruits like mangoes, passion fruit with a hint of toffee. Lingering tastes off refreshing, orange like acidity cleaning the palate and prolonging the fruit flavours. This Icewine is indeed a desert in itself.
WINE SPECTATOR 94 POINTS
"Intense aromas and flavors of beeswax, orange marmalade, vanilla and
apricot. It's concentrated, yet lithe and supple, with bright acidity
and great harmony. Lovely finish and long marmalade aftertaste. Drink
now through 2020. 1,100 cases imported.
Riesling An excellent drinking wine with fine balance, which has a fresh, fruity and delicate peach-pear flavour combined with a palatable crisp acidity. The perfect companion to grilled salmon, and spiced pork tenderloin or cream sauce chicken dishes. |
