Martinetti

Franco M. Martinetti of Torino, Italy is a well known gourmet and wine producer

from Piemonte. All his wines are characterized by an almost manic like research

for elegance and balance. He makes wines with varietals that originate from

Piemonte, to give value to Italian autochthonous vines. He could be defined

with a French expression, an “eleveur”: the person, who after having addressed

the work in the vineyards, especially for what concerns the pruning and the

green harvest, sets the date for the beginning of the harvest, selects the

grapes and oversees the vinification. More specifically, he is the one

determining how long the fermentation, the aging in barrel and in bottle will be.

Franco M. Martinetti – whose entrepreneurial activity in wine dates back to the beginning of 1970s – presently operates out of 3 separate wineries: one is in Rovereto di Gavi for Cortese and Timorasso grapes, one in Vinchio for Barbera and Cabernet Sauvignon and one in La Morra for Nebbiolo for the Barolo. His wines have received numerous awards both in Italy and abroad; the Italian Sommelier Association, the International Sommelier Association and also Robert Parker of Wine Advocate, gave recognition to Mr. Martinetti’s wines.

Guido M. Martinetti, Franco Martinetti’s son and wine maker, will attend the
Wine Maker Dinner at the Sheraton Walkerhill. Guido graduated from the
Universita’ di Torino with a degree in Viticulture and Enology. In 2002
he received a Masters in High quality Viticulture Management at the Universita’
Statale di Milano. While studying, he worked in famous wineries such as
Elio Altare’s Cascina Nuova and Chateau Margaux. Aside from working with his father, Guido is also a consultant to other wineries in Piemonte and Toscana
